What is a match ?
A match is a repeated pattern and/or texture in a wallpaper or fabric. To achieve a perfect finish (invisible joins and the impression that the wall is papered with a single strip), you are advised to respect matches. You can often cut a pattern off in the middle to be able to find it again easily when hanging.
What is a match ?

FREE MATCH
There is no match to respect.

What is a match ?

STRAIGHT MATCH
The pattern is placed regularly in the same place on all strips.

DROP MATCH
Drop matches must be spaced when hanging because the pattern is only matched on every other strip
What is a match ?When the wallpaper is pattern-matched, it is usually cut in two to make matching easier.
Plain paper: The wallpaper is matched by its texture, and it is more difficult to find the match. You are advised to look for an easily recognisable part of the texture.
For a pattern: choose a part of the pattern to the right of the first strip. Find the same pattern and where it repeats on the second strip. By adjusting the second strip, you can find the match.

Drop or free match.
It may be indicated on the label whether to use a drop or a free match. This is particularly the case for plain papers with a very fine texture. These wallpapers can be hung equally well with or without a match.
Free match: It is possible that the joins between the strips are slightly visible when hanging without a match.
Drop match: Even if the match in the texture is very difficult to find, the result will be perfect.
