What do I do if the joins open ?
There are two possible reasons for joins opening:

1. The wallpaper has been hung on an impermeable surface (see Preparing the walls in Techniques). The paste has not stuck so the wallpaper, when dry, returns to its original shape.
2. The paste dried too quickly at the edges of the strips during soaking-in.

Solutions:
1. Prepare the walls correctly before hanging the wallpaper.
2. With vinyl wallpapers, you should increase soaking time.
3. Fold over like a wallet as usual, taking care to place the edges perfectly square, then roll it tight like a newspaper; This is designed to “break” the wallpaper’s rigidity.
4. Pasting can be completed with 10 to 20% of vinyl adhesive in a paste.
5. Paste can be applied onto joins explicitly to close openings.

What do I do if the joins open ?
If the opening between two joins is not very large, use a pencil of the same colour and “fill” the space.
If the opening is too large, the wallpaper should be removed and replaced with a new strip.
